AI video editors you can use free October 2026

Watermarks, export quality and free captions, read on the pages of 19 video editors. Many free plans let you edit, then put a logo on the video or stop at 720p.
Checked by hand on 5 October 2026, on each company’s own pages.1 of 71 have moved since, re-checked 22h ago.

The short answer
If you read nothing else, read this.
- No watermark, free: Microsoft Clipchamp exports as many videos as you like, up to 1080p. CapCut and Adobe Express export with no watermark too, and Canva does if you use only free elements. On phones: Adobe Premiere, Edits and VN.
- Best free quality: Adobe Premiere's phone app exports 4K with no watermark, and Edits and VN list 4K too. On a computer, DaVinci Resolve's free version goes up to Ultra HD (3840 x 2160) at 60fps, and Shotcut supports 4K and 8K. Descript, VEED, Kapwing and Vizard stop at 720p on free.
- Free auto captions: unlimited on Canva and in the Adobe Premiere app on iPhone. Adobe Express puts no limit on how many videos, CapCut's are free on CapCut Web, and Clipchamp includes AI subtitles. The free Edits app makes them too. On a computer, Shotcut and Kdenlive make subtitles from speech.
- Clips for Shorts and Reels: OpusClip and Vizard turn 60 minutes of long video a month into short clips, free, with a watermark. You have 3 days to export them. Adobe Express has a free AI clip maker, in English and on a computer only.
- "Free" that is really a trial: Submagic has no free plan, only 3 short videos to try, with a watermark. Kapwing's 10 credits and Descript's 100 AI credits come once and never refill, and VEED's AI Clips can be used once.
- No sign-up: the Adobe Premiere phone app lets you edit and export with no account. Kapwing has most tools without one, but saving needs a free sign-in. Clipchamp, Adobe Express, OpusClip, Vizard, Edits and YouTube Create need an account.
- Want AI to make the whole video? That is a video generator, not an editor. See our guide to free AI video generators.
I read the pages of 19 video editors. Free is easy. Free with no watermark is harder.

CapCut does not put its prices on its website: they change by country, device and offer, and you see them in the app after you log in. There are two paid plans, Standard and Pro, and tools with a purple diamond need Pro. Templates often add a CapCut ending clip with a logo: delete it before you export. Free AI captions are confirmed for CapCut Web, not for every AI tool in the phone and desktop apps.

Microsoft 365 can be tried free for 1 month, then it renews by itself. Use a personal Microsoft account: work and school accounts get a different Clipchamp.

InShot

- Free app, with ads
- Watermark
- Yes, InShot logo
- Export
- Not stated for free

InShot's website has no pricing page, so the free status comes from its App Store listing. Its terms say a paid plan removes the InShot logo and the ads. The listing says it can save in 4K at 60fps and has Auto Captions and AI Cut, but not which need InShot Pro. A one-time Remove ads purchase is $3.99 in the US App Store; a yearly Pro plan with a free trial is listed, but its price did not show for us.

The 7-day Pro trial needs no card either, yet videos exported during it still carry the OpusClip watermark; after 7 days it turns into the free plan by itself. Starter is monthly only. Pro is $29 a month, or $174 billed yearly.
In their own words(4, checked 5 Oct)

“Currently, processing clips will cost 1 credit per minute of the original video imported.”

VEED says the free subtitle limit is on its price page, but it did not show in the parts we could read. Its Magic Cut tool is fully free; AI Clips and Clean Audio can be used once per account. The watermark is part of the video, so paying later means exporting again. Free AI credits are offered only in some regions. Creator, at $147 a year, removes the watermark; we could not see its monthly price.
In their own words(4, checked 5 Oct)
“The watermark is put on all exported videos while the account had a free subscription.”
“Free Plan: Export in 720p only.”
“This feature is accessible by all plans with limitations shown on our pricing page.”

Questions
What is the best free AI video editor?
It depends on what you need. For no watermark and no export limit, Microsoft Clipchamp: as many videos as you like, up to 1080p, with free AI subtitles. On a phone, the Adobe Premiere app exports unlimited 4K videos with no watermark, and you need no account to edit. For captions, Canva gives them unlimited, and the free Edits app makes them too. To cut long videos into Shorts, OpusClip gives 60 minutes of video a month, with a watermark.
Which free AI video editor has no watermark?
Microsoft Clipchamp and Adobe Express say free exports have no watermark, and CapCut says its videos usually have none: delete the ending clip that CapCut templates add. Canva has none if you use only free elements. On phones, Adobe Premiere (in 4K), Edits and VN export with no watermark. Descript, VEED, Kapwing, Filmora, OpusClip, Vizard and InShot put one on free videos, and Submagic removes it only for subscribers.
Is there a free AI video editor with no sign-up?
Yes, on a phone: the Adobe Premiere app needs no account to edit, save projects on your phone or export. Kapwing says most of its tools work without an account, but saving a project needs a free sign-in, and free videos have a watermark. Clipchamp needs a Microsoft account, Adobe Express an Adobe account, Edits an Instagram account and YouTube Create a Google sign-in. OpusClip and Vizard need an account too.
How can I add auto captions to a video for free?
Canva gives unlimited captions on free, and Adobe Express puts no limit on how many videos. CapCut's AI captions are free on CapCut Web, Clipchamp, YouTube Create and the free Edits app include them, and VN's are free when made on your device. The Adobe Premiere app has unlimited captions on iPhone, with Android coming soon. On a computer, Shotcut and Kdenlive turn speech into subtitles. Kapwing's free plan covers up to 10 minutes.
Is there a free AI clip maker for Shorts and Reels?
Yes. OpusClip and Vizard each turn 60 minutes of long video a month into short clips, free, with a watermark, and you have 3 days to export them. OpusClip adds AI captions and auto reframe, up to 1080p; Vizard exports at 720p. Adobe Express has a free AI clip maker, in English and on a computer only. Submagic has only a trial of 3 short videos, and Canva keeps AI clipping for Pro.
Is CapCut free?
Yes. CapCut says its online editor is free, with templates and media, and makes videos without a watermark. Its AI captions are free on CapCut Web, with no card needed. Tools with a purple diamond need Pro. CapCut does not put prices on its website: they change by country, device and offer, and you see them in the app after you log in.
How we checked
Every fact here comes from the company’s own page, with the sentence it is in. The facts checked for this guide show the day we read them. The tables come from our catalogue, which re-reads each price page on its own. When a page does not say something, we write that, and we never guess. How we check
