Free AI image upscalers and photo enhancers October 2026

How many free upscales, how big, and with a watermark or not, read on the pages of 18 AI upscalers and photo enhancers. Some free plans only let you save a small picture.
Checked by hand on 8 October 2026, on each company’s own pages.3 of 138 have moved since, re-checked 23h ago.

The short answer
If you read nothing else, read this.
- Free with no limit: Upscayl, free and open source on your own computer, up to 16x (it needs a Vulkan graphics card), and waifu2x in your browser, with no size limit but your browser's memory.
- Free every day: Clipdrop 20 every 24 hours at 2x, Krea 4 a day up to 2K, Pixelcut 3 a day with no login and no watermark, Upscale.media 1 a day without an account, and Adobe Firefly free daily generations up to 4K, number not stated.
- Free every month: Imglarger 100 credits (2x only), Bigjpg 20 images (up to 4x, no account), and Canva 20 AI uses shared with all its AI tools (4x or 16x, up to 50 megapixels).
- Free once, then you pay: Let's Enhance 10 credits with a watermark, VanceAI 10, Nero 10, Icons8 3 with a watermark.
- Small or not free: Picsart and Fotor give only a low-resolution free download (Fotor's is 2x). Topaz Gigapixel has no free plan, and Magnific offers no free trial.
I read the pages of 18 upscalers. Many say 16x. Look at the size you can save.

Questions
Is there a free AI image upscaler with no limit?
Yes. Upscayl is free and open source and has no limits: it runs on your own computer, goes up to 16x and needs a Vulkan graphics card. waifu2x runs in your browser with no size limit but your browser's memory. Online, Clipdrop gives the most: 20 upscales every 24 hours, at 2x.
Which image upscaler is free with no sign-up?
4 web upscalers say so on their own pages: Pixelcut (3 downloads a day, no login), Upscale.media (1 image a day without signing up), Krea (a limited number of free enhancements) and Bigjpg (20 a month; keep the browser open until it finishes).
Can I upscale an image to 4K for free?
Yes. Adobe Firefly upscales up to 4K with a free Adobe account and free daily generations. Pixelcut says its free upscaler reaches 4K, with 3 downloads a day. Canva picks 4x or 16x, up to 50 megapixels, from its 20 free AI uses a month. To reach 4K at 2x, start from about 1920 x 1080 pixels.
Which free upscaler has no watermark?
3 say so for free results: Pixelcut, Upscale.media and Fotor, whose free download is 2x and low resolution. VanceAI's pages disagree with each other. Let's Enhance and Icons8 put a watermark on free results.
Is Topaz Gigapixel free?
No. Topaz lists no free plan, and its older help pages say the trial lets you use every feature but not save your images. Personal costs $12 a month billed yearly ($149), or $29 month to month.
Is Nero AI Image Upscaler unlimited?
No. Nero gives 10 free credits when you create an account and 20 more if you join its newsletter, and 8x is for paid users only. Its paid pass gives 300 credits a month; it lists no unlimited web plan.
Can I use free upscaled images for business?
Yes, on some. Adobe Firefly, Fotor, VanceAI and Nero allow commercial use. Krea and Magnific do not on their free plans, and Upscale.media's terms say personal use only. Pixelcut's pages disagree with each other.
How we checked
Every fact here comes from the company’s own page, with the sentence it is in. The facts checked for this guide show the day we read them. The tables come from our catalogue, which re-reads each price page on its own. When a page does not say something, we write that, and we never guess. How we check
